Swiss BrAIn Health Project

AI-Powered Prevention, Monitoring and
Personalized Brain Health

Swiss BrAIn Health is a national interdisciplinary initiative dedicated to advancing personalized brain healthcare through artificial intelligence, digital biomarkers, and preventive medicine.

The project addresses major challenges associated with neurodegenerative disorders and cognitive decline by combining clinical expertise, continuous monitoring, predictive analytics, and AI-supported decision systems. Through collaboration among clinicians, researchers, engineers, and healthcare stakeholders, the initiative aims to establish a scalable framework for personalized and preventive brain health in Switzerland.

The Brain Health Challenge

Brain disorders such as dementia, strok, and mental health conditions affect more than half the population and represent one of the major healthcare challenges of ageing societies.

In Switzerland alone, dementia-related costs increased to CHF 12.6 billion annually.

Research from the Lancet Commission suggests that up to 45% of dementia cases may be preventable through early intervention and lifestyle modification.

What makes Swiss BrAIn Health unique?

Swiss BrAIn Health combines clinical neuroscience, artificial intelligence, digital biomarkers, and personalized prevention into one integrated ecosystem for brain healthcare.

Unlike fragmented prevention approaches, the project creates a continuous feedback loop between patients, clinicians, and AI-supported monitoring systems.

What is Augmented Intelligence?

Augmented Intelligence describes the use of artificial intelligence to support — not replace — human expertise.

Within Swiss BrAIn Health, AI systems assist clinicians and patients by improving decision-making, enabling personalized risk assessment, and supporting preventive brain healthcare.

The project is structured around five key pillars:

The project aims to establish a comprehensive ecosystem for early detection and personalized prevention of neurodegenerative diseases. Expected outcomes include clinically validated AI tools, improved patient-centered care pathways, enhanced healthcare efficiency, and evidence-based strategies for long-term brain health promotion.

In addition, the initiative seeks to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration across Switzerland and position the country as a leading center for AI-driven brain health research.
